These Terms of Service govern your use of the Simple Journal mobile app and related services provided by SimpleApps. By downloading or using Simple Journal, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the service

You may use Simple Journal for personal use. You agree not to use it to violate any law, infringe on any person's rights, or attempt to disrupt the service for other users.

2. Your encryption password & unrecoverable data

Simple Journal is end-to-end encrypted. Your entries are encrypted with a key derived from a password that we never receive. This means that if you lose or forget your password and are not signed into a cloud account that holds it (iCloud Keychain / Google Password Manager), your entries cannot be recovered — by you or by us. You are responsible for remembering your password and keeping access to your cloud account. Simple Journal is a journaling app, not a guaranteed backup service.

3. Accounts

An account is optional. If you choose to create one, you're responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for the activity on your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use. Your account password is separate from your encryption (master) password and cannot decrypt your entries.

4. Your content

The entries, photos, voice notes, and other content you create are yours. SimpleApps does not claim any ownership of your content and cannot read it. We process only the ciphertext necessary to deliver sync, as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Changes

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service or the law. Material changes will be announced in the app and on simpleapps.ai.

6. Disclaimers

Simple Journal is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We aim for high reliability, but because of the zero-knowledge design we cannot recover encrypted data on your behalf, and cannot guarantee that every sync or reminder will complete in every situation.

7. Termination

You can stop using Simple Journal at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
